ABSTRACT:
In this study, the potential of renewable energy resources of Afyonkarahisar is investigated. This area has got a rich potential with regard to geothermal energy. The sunshine duration and the solar energy potential are discussed using up to date data. Weibull and Rayleigh distributions were calculated by using hourly wind velocity data measured in Afyonkarahisar, Dinar and Sultandağı stations. The wind power density of the years 2010 and 2011 is determined for each station. Comparing the performance of the Weibull and Rayleigh distribution and the Rayleigh distribution has been shown to produce more stable results.
