ABSTRACT:

In this study, the protection activity of the reinforcement embedded in the concrete produced by means of using olivine wastes was increased. With the aim of examining this efficiency target compressive strength was determined as C30 and the concretes with wastes were produced by t use of olivine wastes (OW) ground to compare with the reference concrete. The olivine wastes we replaced with cement in the concrete in volumes of 5%, 10%, 20% and 40% and cube samples in size 150X150X150 mm were produced. These were subjected to cure in 7 and 28 days in 21±10C. Followi the cure, compressive strength and density tests were performed on the hardened concrete. The valu of the density of the hardened concrete and its compressive strength decreased at significa proportions. However, the samples including wastes at the proportions of 5%, 10% and 20% reached the target compressive strength value. With the concrete mixtures including OW at the proportions of 5%, 10% and 20% reinforced concrete samples (central embedded steel reinforcing bar having a diamet of 10mm) were produced in molds in the dimensions of Ø50×100 mm. To these samples, a normal cu was applied for 14-days and then they were put in the solution including 5% of NaCl to determi corrosion resistances of reinforced concrete included waste. Within this solution, Lineer Polarizati method was used each week for 17 weeks (nearly 120 days) and the values of the corrosion rate, Rp, Ec and Icor were measured. According to the results of the tests, it has been seen that with the use of OA 5% and 10% in concrete, the corrosion rate of reinforcement decreased compared to the samples analyzed.
