ABSTRACT:

Soil amendments with leaf extracts of calotropis, datura and neem significantly reduced root-knot infection caused by Meloidogyne javanica (Treub) Chitwood and improved growth of okra plant as compared with unamended control. Datura leaf extract showed better results at higher concentration followed by neem and calotropis. Maximum plant growth was observed in treatment where datura was used followed by neem and calotropis. Significant increase in plant growth and reduction in root gall development were observed in datura at concentration followed by S/2, S/4, S/8, and S/16 concentrations. In uninoculated set, growth of plants also improved which was proportional to the concentration of leaf extract while it was inversely proportional in case of inoculated with root-knot development.
