Kabuli type of chickpea is grown in temperate regions while the Desi type of chickpea is grown in the semi-arid tropics (Muehlbauer& Singh, 1987; Malhotraet al., 1987). Chickpea yield 21% starch suitable for textile sizing, giving a light finish to silk, wool, and cotton clothes (Duke, 1981). Chickpea is grown in India for domestic use and to fetch certain amount of rupee by the farmers.
